Part-Time Textile Designer

Location: Remote (ideally located in the Tri-State area)

About Us:
We are a budding apparel and homewares brand, passionately producing high-quality products in India. We are seeking a talented Textile Designer to work closely with the founder. This is a part-time position with the potential for growth into a long-term, impactful role within our company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create original pattern designs through drawing, painting, and design software.
• Recolor existing prints to align with seasonal and brand color palettes.
• Design patterns with a strong understanding of block printing, screen printing, and shibori-dying techniques.
• Develop colorways that enhance our merchandising strategies.
• Collaborate closely with the founder to align on design vision and brand aesthetics.
• Contribute to the overall creative process, bringing fresh and innovative ideas to the table.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Textile Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing your design work.
• Familiarity with block printing techniques and design principles.
• Proficient in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
• Experience in developing colorways and understanding their application in merchandising.
• Strong aesthetic sense aligned with our brand’s vision.
• Background in fashion design or homewares design is a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Located in the Tri-State area (we are based an hour north of NYC in Hudson Valley) to facilitate occasional in-person meetings and potential for growth.
• Open to both junior and senior designers; compensation will be hourly or project-based and dependent on experience.
